9.30: Coffee

10.00: Welcome from Neil Curtis, Head of Museums and Special Collections, University of Aberdeen

10.10: Raban Redux: new insights into the life of Edward Raban.  Professor Peter Reid (Robert Gordon University) and Professor Paul Mitchell (University of Aberdeen) will speak on recent research which sheds new light on to Raban's life.

11.00: - Up Close with fourteen of Raban's works and opportunity to view the exhibition.

12.30: Lunch Break - Sandwich lunch included.

13.30-15.30: Up Close Talks: three presentations by experts in their fields:

Dr Anette Hagan (Rare Books Curator at the National Library of Scotland) who will speak on early Scottish books and the work of a rare books curator.

Jane Pirie (Rare Books Curator at Special Collections, University of Aberdeen) who will speak about Francis van Hagen, the seventeenth century book binder who worked with Raban.

Dr Alastair Mann (University of Stirling) author of The Scottish Book Trade 1500-1700, who will speak on Raban and the North Sea.

15.30: Coffee

15.45: Plenary, questions, discussion.
